Letters to my pregnant self

"People may think your life has ended before it's even begun because you are pregnant. You know though that it's just taken a different course. You'll grow up faster and you'll always have someone else to consider in every choice that you make."

Letters to my Pregnant Self

In February 2010, people who became parents in their teens were asked to write letters to their younger selves, offering reassurance and inspiration.

The idea of becoming a young mum or dad can be scary. It is likely that as a pregnant teenager and as a young parent you will experience challenging situations and face discrimination in one form or another. But life doesn't end when you become a young parent and neither do your hopes and dreams.

With this project, we hope to provide inspiration to pregnant teenagers and young parents, to offer them hope and reassurance that there are many opportunities for them.

The gift of hindsight would be an incredible thing! Through this project participants had the opportunity to share some of the lessons they have learned with young people who are in a similar situation now.

40 letters were received and have been compiled into a moving and powerful book, which is distributed to those young people we are supporting.
