After having Isobelle in 2008, I spent a lot of time at home with her whilst my partner was working. I joined the Family Learning Programme when Isobelle was about 7 moths old.
There was onsite childcare, which not only gave me a chance to get out of the house and meet new friends in similar situations, but also gave Isobelle the chance to meet new friends, learn and watch others and become more independent. It was also my first insight ito the fact that thigs can carry on when you're a young mum, whether it be work, college or training. I have now completed my level 2 maths and english and have started full time paid work. Looking back now at the paths, I didn't realise what was available to me. It makes me very proud of what I have done for my daughter, but also very proud of myself. |
